Strikes in Iraq seem to have little strategic coherence
NY Times:
We appear to be hitting a few targets of opportunity near the Kurdish capitol. While that has to be helpful to those under siege, it is not a coherent strategy aimed at stopping the ISIL . What si needed is a sustained attack plan that goes after all of ISIL assets. We are never going to deter these Islamic religious bigots. Their military assets must be destroyed as rapidly as possible. While the F-18 will work for the immediate situation, what is really needed is a large group of A-10's with unlimited ammo and continuous operations to keep the enemy under stress. The A-10's need to be supplemented with heavy bombers that can deny space to ISIL.2nd Round of Strikes Hits 8 Sites in North, Pentagon Says
Military officials said they believed the attacks near the Kurdish capital on Friday resulted in casualties among the Sunni militants, as the United States escalated its involvement in Iraq.
