The Cruz Supreme Court advantage

NY Times:

Senate Candidate and Supreme Court Have a History

Ted Cruz, a Republican and a United States Senate hopeful, has argued before the court nine times, more than any practicing lawyer in Texas or any current member of Congress.
Cruz is a very effective advocate who has won some big cases before the court.  His debating skills are not always politic, but he keeps making his point.  He has moved from being the underdog in the Texas race to leading in recent polls.  He is also doing will with grass roots fund raising, though Dewhurst can still write a check that can offset any money advantage.  Lately Dewhurts has been running ads that many, including myself see as unfair.  I get the impression these ads are not getting much traction and they are beginning to sound desperate.

Cruz will be a strong advocate for conservative values if elected.  The K street crowd may see that as scary, but his Tea Part supporters see it as an asset.
