Mexican Navy arrest state police tied to Zetas

Mexican authorities announced the arrests of four Tamaulipas State Police officers, including a group commander accused of carrying out kidnappings and extortions for the Zetas criminal organization.

The Mexican marines arrested the three men while they rode their state-issued police vehicles. Once in custody, the men said the weapons and communications equipment they were carrying was their duty equipment. The men also pointed to their commander, Lara Castelán, as the man in charge of organizing extortions and kidnappings as well as being a member of the Zetas.

The Navy continues to be the least corrupt organization in Mexico. They have been involved in several significant arrest of cartel leaders and corrupt officials. Unfortunately, their work is not finished.
