Al Qaeda video threaten to send bomb to US

Scotsman:

A VIDEO threatening revenge for a US attack on an al-Qaeda terrorist camp in Yemen was posted four days before a former British student's botched attempt to blow up an American airliner.

The video warning was posted in Yemen, where he (the underwear bomber) reportedly began his journey and where he has reportedly claimed to have been trained at an al-Qaeda camp.

In the al-Qaeda video, dated 21 December, a man identified as Mohammed al-Kalwi delivered a eulogy for militants killed in a Yemeni air strike on a militant training camp four days earlier. He said: "We are carrying a bomb to hit the enemies of God. O soldiers, you should learn that we do not want to fight you, nor do we have an issue with you. We only have an issue with America and its agents, and beware of standing in the ranks of America."

His journey is believed to have begun in Yemen. From there he went to Ghana, bought an airline ticket and caught his plane in Nigeria, where officials say he "sneaked in" and stayed less than 24 hours. From the Nigerian capital, Lagos, he flew to Amsterdam where he boarded the Delta-owned Airbus 330 to the US. Delta Air Lines took over Northwest in 2008.

The al Qaeda video is an interesting development suggesting retaliation for the attacks in Yemen which clearly hurt al Qaeda's operations. The reference to soldiers were to the Yemeni soldiers that are taking part in the attacks, I believe.

The message continues the strangely detached from reality of previous messages where al Qaeda takes offense that people they are trying to kill fight back.
