Hunter endorses Huckabee

Fox News:

California Rep. Duncan Hunter endorsed Mike Huckabee on Wednesday, four days after dropping his own presidential bid.

“I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail,” said Hunter. “Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base,” he said in a statement.

...

Huckabee has earlier said that he thinks Hunter would be a great Secretary of Defense. There is little doubt that h would be better than anyone appointed by a Democrat. The endorsement also gives Huckabee some much needed credibility on border protection since that has always been one of hunters strengths. Huckabee's problem is that Fred Thompson dropped out too late to help him in South Carolina and Tennessee. With much of Giuliani's support drifting toward McCain the race is coming down to a Romney McCain contest if current trends hold.
