Bush meets Maliki

MNFI:

U.S President George W. Bush paid a surprise visit to the International Zone in Baghdad Tuesday to congratulate Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on the formation of a new Iraqi government.

The president was scheduled to be at Camp David with his cabinet to hold a video press conference with the prime minister.

Instead, he turned up in the Iraqi capital.
The two heads of state spent a few hours in closed-door conversations.

Al-Maliki thanked Multi-National Force – Iraq for the support it provides his government and vowed that his country would “stay united and stay strong.”

The president said he told the prime minister “the future of your country is in your hands” and that he was impressed by the new Iraqi cabinet.

Bush said he admired al-Maliki’s commitment to the people of Iraq.

The president said Iraq was the front of the Global War on Terror and that America would continue to support the Iraqi government.

...
This trip was bad news for the enemy in Iraq and the Global War on Terror as well as Democrats back in the states who seem eager to lose the war in Iraq, even though the casualties have been historically light and the enemy has yet to win a battle with our troops.
