The Islamic war against the tourist

BBC:

At least 22 people have been killed and scores more injured in three explosions in the Egyptian resort town of Dahab.

The blasts occurred in a central area frequented by tourists at about 1915 local time (1715 GMT) when many people would be out in cafes and restaurants.

Eyewitnesses speak of seeing debris and body parts flying in the streets.

Southern Sinai peninsula resorts have been hit several times by bomb attacks. About 60 people were killed last July in a similar attack in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Police said more than 20 ambulances and police cars rushed to the el-Masbat area of the Red Sea resort.

An interior ministry spokesman confirmed the blasts. "There were explosions, but the picture is still not clear," he told Reuters news agency.

About 150 people are thought to have been injured.

CNN puts the death toll at 10. The Financial Times says 30 were killed.

Witnesses said by phone that there were three separate explosions in rapid succession at a supermarket, a restaurant frequented by tourists and a hotel – all of them near the centre of the town. Dahab is one of the more laid back resorts on the Red Sea coast, traditionally popular with Israeli and European holidaymakers.

In a sign security services were treating the explosions as terrorists attacks, police attempted to block people from leaving the town, witnesses said, and stepped up security in other resorts such as Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Interior ministry officials in Cairo initially put the death toll at 10, four foreigners and six Egyptians.

It is possible that bin Laden wanted his tape out before these attacks. The multiple explosions have become an al Qaeda trademark. No doubt he and Zawahiri want to undercut the Egyptian economy and its goverment because they are not Islamic enough for his death cult mentality. Making war against noncombatants is another aspect of al Qaeda treachery. Note in his tape, bin Laden talked about the killing of noncombatants because they support the goverments that oppose him. No doubt he would oppose the killing of non combatants who support him.
