CIA stands by comments that McCarthy was leaker

The NY Times follows the Fox News report on the CIA reaction to Mary McCarthy's lawyers assertions by giving the agencies side of the story. McCarthy appears to be putting her credibility on the line through the assertion of her lawyer.

The Central Intelligence Agency on Tuesday defended the firing of Mary O. McCarthy, the veteran officer who was dismissed last week, and challenged her lawyer's statements that Ms. McCarthy never provided classified information to the news media.

...

A C.I.A. spokeswoman, Jennifer Millerwise Dyck, said: "The officer was terminated for precisely the reasons we have given: unauthorized contacts with reporters and sharing classified information with reporters. There is no question whatsoever that the officer did both. The officer personally admitted doing both."

...
McCarthy through her lawyer is still in denial saying that she did not admit to the leaks in writing or orally. My guess is that she did both. The polygraph test is given orally, and at some point she was confronted with answers where she appeared to be lying. If she did lie at that point she would be committing a federal crime, making it easier to bring a case against her.
