A Trump reality check in New Hampshire
NY Times:
These are the lamentations of the 68 Percent — the significant majority of Republicans in the state who are immune to Donald J. Trump’s charms and entreaties. It may not matter since New Hampshire lets anyone vote in its primaries regardless of political affiliation, but the point is that despite what appears to be a lead, Trump is not leading with a majority of voters.
I am not a Trumper, but he has something which attracts many, at least subconsciously. To use a sports term, there is a difference in a team coming to play and a team coming to win. In the past 25 years or so, the Republican candidates have been amiable, honorable men who came to run the good race. Clinton, Gore, Obama, and to a lesser extent Kerry came to win, and especially in the case of Gore and Obama were willing to do whatever that required. For the first time in years, there is a candidate, Trump, who is playing to WIN. It is both refreshing, but also a bit troubling to see a true no holds barred approach, especially in what is almost certainly the last chance we will have to get the country back on path.
