GOP investigating Biden Afghan debacle

The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is ramping up its investigation into the Biden administration's deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 and is demanding Biden's top officials answer for "tactical and strategic failures."

In letters sent Friday to senior White House leadership, the Pentagon, Joint Chiefs of Staff, State Department, Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., demanded additional information into the Afghanistan withdrawal "catastrophe."

"We are concerned that the Biden administration continues to delay long overdue transparency to the American people about the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal and evacuation," the lawmakers wrote.

The Republicans say it's "unacceptable" that the Afghan War Commission, which was established in the fiscal year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), has not met once and won't produce a report for three years.

Their letters follow up on a series of actions taken during the previous Congress, when Republicans were in the minority. Republican say that after sending over 10 separate requests for documents and information from the Biden administration, they have not received a "substantive response."

Biden obviously gave his order to retreat without taking the time to plan and do so in an orderly manner.  The result was an absolute debacle that left the Afghans to deal with a radical Islamist Taliban.  It was typical of Biden's half-assed approach that created more problems.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
