Some Republicans angry with Jan. 6 committee abuse of Trump
On Monday, in response to the January 6th Committee passing down a criminal referral for former President Donald Trump for obstruction, insurrection, and conspiracy to make false statements, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said that the Democrats would be held accountable for their “abuse of power.”
“House Democrats and Vicious Never Trumpers, who were run out of Congress by the American people, continue to desperately and unconstitutionally target President Trump and Republicans,” Stefanik wrote in a statement on Monday.
“The American people see through this partisan charade, which is why they fired Nancy Pelosi once and for all,” Rep. Stefanik continued. “The Republican Majority will hold House Democrats accountable for their illegitimate abuse of power.”
The committee is largely made up of Democrats with the two Republican exceptions being Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), both of whom will not be in the next Congress beginning January 3rd, per Newsmax.
The former president also had a few words to share on Truth Social about the January 6th Committee’s decision: “I see where the Unselect Committee, using the Democrat’s favorite weapon, DISINFORMATION, is trying to make the case that I didn’t really believe I won the Election. This is a total LIE.”

In fact, it was a committee specifically selected by Pelosi as a hanging jury. It ignored significant evidence that Trump not only did not support the attack on the Capitol Building, but also had requested troops to prevent such an action.
