Trump's Vietnam deferment is not an issue with his supporters

Washington Post:
Trump faces new attacks from Democrats over military deferments

Presidential hopefuls and military veterans Pete Buttigieg and Seth Moulton accused President Trump of faking a condition to avoid service. The attacks could test whether Trump’s coalition, which includes military families, can be cracked.
I was an executive officer of a rifle company of Marines in Northern I Corps.  One of the benefits of leading Marines in combat was that they were all volunteers.  One of the reasons the current military is more effective is the volunteer nature of its recruits.  Combat can be difficult enough without having to deal with people who don't want to be there.  I am glad Bill Clinton was not in my unit, but I would not be surprised if Buttigieg supported him anyway.  This looks like a desperate attempt by Democrats to separate Trump from his base of support.  But the military knows he is a stronger supporter of their efforts than Democrats would be.
