Competitors are using batteries which limits their payload and range. If approved these craft could also be potential life savors although they could not carry some of the equipment used in more traditional ambulances. US-based firm Alaka'i Technologies revealed its Skai vehicle which is inspired by current drones and powered by hydrogen fuel cells. It can take off and land vertically and has a range of 400 miles.
