The problem with the Texas redistricting case
NY Times:
Democrats are losing because they support policies that hurt the economy and pander to special interest groups rather than the population as a whole.
Democrats are not winning seats in Congressional races because there are fewer Democrats now in Texas. Just look at the results of statewide elections. They have not won a race in over 20 years. It is their bad policies that are keeping them from winning and not how district lines are drawn. There are plenty of examples of Hispanics and black Republicans winning races in statewide races as well as in congressional districts.
Republican lawyers raised the possibility of “Armageddon” — a map that endangered a half-dozen G.O.P. districts.
Democrats are losing because they support policies that hurt the economy and pander to special interest groups rather than the population as a whole.
