Russia finds another outlet for its gas

NY Times:
Russia and China Reach 30-Year Deal on Natural Gas

Capping a decade-long negotiation, the two countries agreed on Wednesday to a deal expected to be worth about $400 billion that would send gas from Siberia by pipeline to China.
Only last night the report was that the deal had fallen through because of a lack of agreement on price.  My speculation is that Russia decided to take China's price in order to shore up its strategic position with Europe which is looking for alternatives.
