Special ops training for front line African countries fighting al Qaeda

U.S. Trains Commandos in Africa to Fight Terrorism

American Special Operations troops are forming elite units in four countries in North and West Africa that American officials say are pivotal in the widening war against Al Qaeda’s affiliates in Africa.
While special ops is important in defeating an al Qaeda insurgency in these countries, it is not enough.  They are going to need trained ground troops that can provide the force to space ratios needed to cut off enemy movement to contact.  So far, none of them seem to grasp the importance of disbursing the troops and protecting the people.  They are still concentrating on massing their forces and chasing the enemy rather than positioning themselves to stop the movement.
