Texas AG invites New Yorkers to come to Texas

Austin American-Statesman:
Attorney General Greg Abbott Wednesday launched a Google web ad campaign inviting New Yorkers who feel their gun rights are threatened by a new law just signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to move to Texas where they will have the right to bear arms, and, with lower taxes, more money to buy ammo.

The provocative web ads, paid for with Abbott campaign funds, will appear as a pop-up on screens on a variety of media web sites, including that of The New York Times, for those accessing the sites in Manhattan and Albany.

“Is Gov. Cuomo looking to take your guns? Sick of the media outing law abiding gun owns? Are you a lawful NY gun owner seeking lower taxes?” reads one of two pop-up ads.

A second reads: “Wanted: Law abiding New York gun owns looking for lower taxes and greater opportunity.”

Click on either and you are directed to a Facebook second amendment petition page https://apps.facebook.com/336273509819725/ with the greeting: “You’ll fit right in here in Texas!”

It reads: “Here in Texas, you will have the liberty and the opportunity to achieve your dreams. On top of that, we have no income tax, yet still manage to have a multi-billion dollar budget surplus. We have right to work laws and a reasonable regulatory environment. Texas has created more than 275,000 jobs in the last year alone! And we’ll fight like hell to protect your rights.

New York lowered its unemployment rate between 2000 and 2010 by exporting over a million people to other states including Texas.  Texas continues to be proud of the opportunities is offers including the right to bear arms.  Gov. Rick Perry also issued a statement noting that nothing being proposed would have stopped the attacks in Connecticut.

Texas political leaders are not persuaded by the President's plan.  It is unlikely they will heed his call to pressure Congress to adopt it.  It would be interesting to compare the effectiveness of Texas's concealed carry law with New York's restrictions on the law abiding citizens which will be ignored by the crooks because ignoring the law is what crooks do.

BTW, it looks like Remington Arms is looking to relocate from New York.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit.
