Dems will raise the cost of health care

From Sen. Cornyn:

SEN. JOHN CORNYN (R-TX): “Is it true that these additional fees ultimately would be passed down to the health care consumer and be reflected in not lower insurance premiums but higher insurance premiums.”

CBO DIRECTOR DOUGLAS ELMENDORF: “As you read from the letter, Senator, our judgment is that that piece of the legislation would raise insurance premiums by roughly the amount of the money collected.” (Finance Committee, U.S. Senate, Hearing, 9/22/09)

While this is a statement of the obvious, it seems to have been missed by proponents of the Baucus plan to "pay" for the health care bill.
