High gas prices do not benefit Democrats

The Politico asks if high gas prices hurt McCain, but the real question should be how badly they will hurt Democrats whose strangulation of energy supplies has finally caught up with them. He gives stats about how it is an issue, but anyone with basic common sense knows that it is the Democrats restriction on the supply by putting areas off limits that is the problem. that is why they deep sixed their globo warming bill so quickly. McCain's main problem on energy is that he has been too close to the Democrats on energy policy. What that means is he will not get as much benefit from the issue as congressional Republicans who support removing the restrictions on drilling.

The restrictions are absolutely ridiculous. The chances of environmental damage from drilling and producing oil have become remote. The main reason Democrats oppose increasing the supply is because they want high prices so they can make consumers drill for conservation. That is why high prices should not benefit Democrats what so ever. Their old game of blaming the oil companies for the high prices is not working anymore. The politics of fraud they have practiced on the issue has been exposed.

When Chuck Schumer says oil from AANWR will only drop the price of oil a penny, but the equivalent amount from Saudi Arabia will drop the price by a substantial multiple of that he has given up the game.

Republicans should pound the Democrats on this issue, whether McCain does or not.
