Musk finds government spending that makes no sense

DOGE has saved $160 billion so far.

They spoke about some of the stunning things they had found, including that close to $5 trillion was paid out by the Treasury without a budget code. That meant no one could trace where the money was going, "It could have been for anything," a DOGE member explained.

There was also a "$4 billion COVID fund in the Department of Education." A DOGE member explained there were no receipts required to draw down money from that account. They said the money had been used to rent out "Caesar's Palace for parties" among other things.

So DOGE implemented a requirement that before you draw down money, you have to upload a receipt. It's wild that this wasn't already normal practice. But Elon Musk explained that the drawing down of the money stopped when they asked for receipts. "They were basically partying on the taxpayer money," Musk explained.

They also alleged they found some wild things when they looked into the Institute for Peace.

With most of the payment systems, you didn't know where the money was going, he said. The money distribution had no checks and no accountability to the American taxpayer. He called it a "huge vector" for fraud, waste, and abuse.

Perhaps the most shameful thing is how the left has responded to Elon and his crew. They should thank them for what they have been doing for the country. Instead, they've demonized them. Elon and the team have faced threats, and Tesla vehicles and dealerships have been attacked. A team member spoke about how he'd dropped out of Harvard to join the team and lost friends, but he did it because he thought it was so important.

The Democrats' response to the findings is shameful.   What Musk found was not a business-like handling of taxpayer money.  If a business were similarly handling money, the shareholders would likely be in rebellion.  Musk, in my opinion, is probably one of the smartest businessmen in America.  The US should take advantage of his expertise to get a better hold on the use of taxpayer money.
