Iran threatens US ships if they engage in defensive response

The commander of the Revolutionary Guard said Iran would “target any U.S. vessel that endangers the security of our military or civilian ships.”
Iran is run by a bunch of Islamic religious bigots who engage in bravado rather than in intelligent responses.  It is a weak power that tries to push the envelope and make threats.  If Iran targets a US vessel it will likely provoke a response it cannot handle.  I would not limit US attacks to just taking out a particular boat, especially if it is a coordinated attack as much of the harassment appears to be.  I would also take out their naval bases that support and harbor these boats.
