A false choice argument from Times columnist

NY Times:
THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN
Whatever Trump Is Hiding Is Hurting All of Us Now

He either believes Putin’s denials, or more likely, is afraid of what the Russians have on him.
This seems to reflect the paranoia of the left when it comes to understanding Trump.  The President is not nearly that complicated.  First Trump rejected the implication of the left that his win was illegitimate, and the Mueller probe at this point seems to make it clear that the Russians did not change the outcome of the election.

It is not Putin's denials or any bogus assertion that Putin is blackmailing Trump.  If Friedman still believes the discredited dirty dossier he is doing so based on his anti-Trump bias because there is no evidence to support that document.

It appears from the evidence Mueller has accumulated that Trump voters were not swayed by the Russians.  When the Russians set up rallies for Trump and rallies for Clinton the people attending the Clinton rallies vastly outnumbered those at the Trump rallies.

Then there is the fact that Trump's policies have not favored the Russians.  From energy to defense his policies have been the opposite of what the Russians would want.  There is also the matter of the US forces wiping out a Russian sponsored attack on a US position in Syria.  It was a serious blow to Putin's "little green men" strategy.

While I would like less drama coming out of the White House, Trump's policies have clearly been good for the economy and good for the US national interest.  The destruction of ISIS is another example of how Trump was smart enough to let the military do their job, unlike Obama's amateurish micromanagement which led to genocide.

Trump won because the policies of liberal Democrats have not benefited many workers in this country.  The Democrats policies might benefit the elites in urban areas but there is a big country on the other side of the Hudson that rejects those failed policies.
