When imams write pieces on how to beat your wife, it invites a question?

Washington Post:
Muslim students tried to meet with a lawmaker but were first asked: ‘Do you beat your wife?’

Oklahoma state Rep. John Bennett has a history of expressing anti-Muslim views, refusing to apologize for saying in 2014 that Muslims are a “cancer in our nation that needs to be cut out.”
While the question may sound rude, it is not out of the blue.  There have been several stories in the media about Muslim clerics defending wife beating.  The Post should have done a better job of putting Bennet's question in context if it is going to be fair.
