Democrats frustrated by their ineffective attacks on Gorsuch

Democratic senators were frustrated in the first round of confirmation hearings for Judge Gorsuch, who offered little insight on his personal thoughts on contentious legal matters.
My impression of the Democrat questioning is that none of them are as smart as Gorsuch and they appear to be reading from a canned script in some cases with little understanding of the issues they are raising.   They have a misleading understanding of the theory of originalism.  They seem to prefer a "living constitution" approach which gives liberals wide latitude to make up new rights and laws from the penumbra or whatever.

They prefer decisions that advance their political agenda regardless of the merits of the argument.   That is the reason why they have not criticized the absurd decisions blocking President Trump's executive orders on immigration from certain countries.
