Politicians that ignore the obvious violence caused by Islamic religious bigotry

Michael Graham:
“The governor said he has no idea why someone would deliberately harm ‘innocent men, women and children in the way that these two fellows did.’ ”CBS News

Who’s going to break the news to Gov. Deval Patrick?

Patrick, who once famously (infamously?) called the 9/11 terror attacks “a failure of human understanding,” must now face what most of us had figured out last Friday — that Boston has joined New York, Washington, London, Madrid, Mumbai, etc. on the list of cities hit by Islamist-inspired violence.

Yesterday CNN, the Washington Post and other media outlets reported that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told authorities the bombing was motivated by the desire to wage jihad.

“Tsarnaev has conveyed to investigators that Tamerlan’s motivation stemmed from jihadist thought and the idea that Islam is under attack,” CNN (but not John King) reported.

“Tamerlan Tsarnaev was an ardent reader of jihadist websites, U.S. officials told the Associated Press Tuesday, suggesting the brothers were motivated by an anti-American, radical version of Islam,” CBS reported.

I’ve got the perfect headline for all these stories: “Duh!”

When the bombs first went off, every intellectually honest person knew that, statistically speaking, jihad was the most likely motive for the bombing. Yes, theoretically it could have been a terror cell of radical, pro-obesity activists opposed to physical fitness, but that would be a first.

Instead, as U.S. Rep. Peter King of New York pointed out yesterday, “There have been 16 terror plots against New York [since 9/11], all Islamist-based.”

So how, after the two ethnically-Chechen, religiously Muslim bombers were killed or captured, could Patrick still say with a straight face he had “no idea” what motivated those “two fellows?”

“Politicians, the media and law enforcement routinely pretend not to notice that there’s a jihad underway,” historian Daniel Pipes of the Middle East Forum told me yesterday. “Although cowardice or political correctness sometimes play a role in this, the more important reasons are a wish neither to upset Muslims nor to have to re-order society.”

So it’s better to look like the most clueless guy in Massachusetts than it is to tell the truth about Islam’s terrorism problem? Apparently so.
...
There is more.

Could Gov. Patrick be that clueless?  It is possible that he is not too smart.  He may be joined in that regard by other liberal politicians who do not want to acknowledge the war being waged against us by Islamic religious bigots.  Those politicians should be held up to the ridicule they justly deserve and then replaced by people of greater intelligence.
