Why was Obama a Birther until he decided to run for president?

 So, either Obama wrote his own bio, as Boman was required to, or he didn’t. If he did, why did he claim he was born in Kenya, when we all know he was actually born in Hawaii? 

If Obama didn’t write that, for whatever reason, who did? Why did that person think Obama was born in Kenya? In what possible sense is botching a client’s birthplace by 10,000 miles a “fact-checking error”? And why did Obama let it slide for 16 years, until he decided to run for president? 

I suppose it’s possible that Obama told the truth and wrote “born in Hawaii,” but then this fact-checker changed it to “Kenya.” If that’s what happened, why did it happen?And is there a particular reason I’m not supposed to ask any of these things?...

I suspect Obama held himself out as being born in Kenya to help sell the book idea.  I also suspect this is why he was so coy for so long in responding to the people who challenged his birthplace.  He may have feared that the material from his literary agent might surface.  In other words he was trying to cover up a previous fraud.

Tom Lipscomb is incredulous upon hearing the "fact check" excuse:

...As someone who has run a number of top bestseller publishers, I think this is an amazing MIRACLE. 

It is the ONLY case I have ever heard of in which an editorial assistant INVENTED a biographical detail. I have heard of typos, wrong dates, misspellings of names. But to pick a really weird country of origin like Kenya for an author? 

NEVER. 

After all where do the bios come from? We don’t make them up. And neither did Dystel & Goederich. They come from the authors, like Obama. No one has ever invented a detail like that, and the authors usually review them and scream like hell if we get them wrong....

Obama certainly looks dishonest in this situation.  Lipscomb certainly sounds more credible.  The media needs to be more curious about this document.
