Ridiculous ad of the day

Elsewhere in The Hill there is a story, Obama struggles with campaign theme, This ad seems to be more proof of that point. So far Obama has run an inept campaign worthy of an amateur.
To whom is Obama trying to appeal with this ad? Romney is not and has never been a birther so what is the point? It makes about as much sense as him running against his former literary agent for being a birther.
