Hyperbole of the day
From the Daily Mail on Sunday:
The Brit casualties in Afghanistan have been averaging a little over 17 KIA a year in the seven years of the war. At the current rate it would take the British approximately 1131 years in Afghanistan to equal the 19,240 KIAs in the first day of the Battle of the Somme in World War I.
I think Peter Hitchens has lost historical perspective.
