The first road trip in the new truck
I drove to San Antonio Thanksgiving day and back today. It was a round trip of about 300 miles that used half a tank of gas. OK, it is a big tank, but the Crew Cab F-150 with a V-8 got right at 20 MPG which is pretty respectable. It was a very comfortable trip.
San Antonio continues to show a booming economy. On the way home we stopped at a huge Garden Ridge Pottery that was jammed with customers. It was the size of two Wal-Marts. The parking lot was jammed and the line waiting for checkout was long.
The traffic both days was pretty heavy. Some of the Thursday traffic was probably people from Houston headed to Austin for the UT-A&M game. The gas at under $1.70 a gallon probably had an impact on traffic too.
