Al Qaeda says its Zarqawi replacement was arrested in Turkey

A senior al Qaeda militant once earmarked by the group to lead its wing in Iraq was arrested by Turkey about 18 months ago and was extradited to the United States, an al Qaeda leader said in remarks aired on Thursday.

"The (Qaeda) permission for him to travel came about a year and half ago (but) he was arrested in Turkey and the agent government there handed him over to the Americans," Mustafa Abu al-Yazid said in remarks broadcast by Al Jazeera television.

Jazeera was airing parts of an interview conducted by al Qaeda's media arm al-Sahab with Abu al-Yazid, who it said was the newly appointed leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

A Pentagon spokesman said Iraqi intended to "manage al Qaeda affairs" in Iraq when he was detained. A CIA spokesman called him a "veteran jihadist."

It is interesting that al Qaeda would release information on how their operative was captured. The report has to be really "sad" for Nancy Pelosi who insist that al Qaeda has nothing to do with Iraq.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
