Wesley Clark
For a guy who rose to a four star general rank, Clark has lapses of command presences. In his announcement of his candidacy for President, he appeared to be uncomfortable making his first stump speech. His applause lines seem to fall flat including his appeal to he home town crowd by saying he was from Little Rock.
Brit Hume, on Fox News played a clip of Clark leaving his appearance on Meet the Press. Clark was being asked questions by reporters hanging around the door. He seemed very uncertain, then said he had to check with someone before answering questions. He is shown on his cell phone where he was apparently told not to answer any questions, because he hung up and gave his regrets to the reporters.
Then there his Clintonesque speech where he talked about his concern for the people, with the implication that everyone else and especially republicansare not concerned.
His idea to get the UN more incolved in Iraq is silly. The UN is a dead in as long as the French are trying to screw the US. Does he think his election will make the French quit being French? As for coalition building, his Kosovo campaign resulted in him having a falling out with the Brits, the US closest ally. He ordered a British general to remove the russians from a facility. The Brit general refused saying that he was not there to start World War III.
His paranoia about the Bush administration is another indicator that he is not ready for close scruitny. Does he really think the Bush administration got him fired from CNN? Just because Clark has been wrong from the start on Iraq, the Bush administration has more important things to do. They have real enemies such as Saddam and binLaden that they ar out to get. Clark would not be worth their time.
Clark is suppose to be the Dems answer to the low regard they are held on issues of national security. The problem with that theory is that he has the same ideas on national security the rest of the Dems have. His former status in the military cannot hide that problem. When you put a dress on a pig, it's still a pig.
