Disingenious Dems ask for investigation

Democrats have asked for an investigation who who leaked the name of a CIA operative. The request is not made in good faith.

This is another attempt by former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV to make it more difficult for the Bush administration to implement its Iraq policy.

Wilso is still upset that Iraq was liberated and that Saddam Hussein is out of power. He is the guy who went to Niger and took officials at their word that Saddam had not tried to buy yellowcake uranium. Are we really supposed to believe that people who made an illegal sale would tell the truth. Even if they made no such sale, their hearsay testimony repeated by Wilson is pretty weak.

Wilson has an axe to grind with the administration and is using his wife to do so. Robert Novak disclosed in the course of a story that she was a CIA operative. However as Cliff May points out in the linked article he and other knew this information and were not told by anyone in the White House.

In a speech recently Wilson said he wanted to see Karl Rove "frog walked" out of the White House for leaking the info. He later admitted he had know knowledge of who leaked the info. There appears to be Dem hatred at work here rather than a search for the truth. But the Dems are not really interested in the truth. They just want to get the allegation out there to force the administration to respond to it. It is part of their playbook. Make an outragous allegation to force your opponent to respond.

I just wander how many people Wilson has told about his wife's job.

May writes, "Mr. Wilson is now saying (on C-SPAN this morning, for example) that he opposed military action in Iraq because he didn't believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and he foresaw the possibility of a difficult occupation. In fact, prior to the U.S. invasion, Mr. Wilson told ABC's Dave Marash that if American troops were sent into Iraq, Saddam might 'use a biological weapon in a battle that we might have. For example, if we're taking Baghdad or we're trying to take, in ground-to-ground, hand-to-hand combat.'"
