Trump outperforming the Republican brand
President Joe Biden’s main problem when it comes to Latino voters is his brand, according to a poll released on Tuesday, even as Latino voters support Democratic stances on most subjects.
Biden has seen his advantage over former President Donald Trump regarding Latino voters shrink from 29% in 2021 to 9% in 2024, according to the Axios-Ipsos poll.
Outside of the presidential election, Latino voters are more in favor of Democrats than they are of Republicans.
“In almost every case, Trump performs better than the Republican brand and Biden performs worse than the Democratic brand,” Chris Jackson, Ipsos pollster and senior vice president, told Axios.
The complaints are largely due to high crime rates and inflation, which have given Trump an 11-point lead for fighting crime and a 22-point lead for the economy. But Democrats are closing their gaps on the economy and crime rates even if Biden isn’t.
Democrats still see support from Latino voters on matters such as abortion and immigration, but respondents are mixed on what immigration should look like. For example, most support providing a pathway to U.S. citizenship for people in the country illegally, but a majority also think improving border security should be a main priority for the government.

When you consider the runaway inflation since Biden took over, there is good reason to support Trump. Trump is also better at dealing with crime.
