The danger of Dems' open borders policy

 Washington Examiner:

Democrats’ open-border policies and the influx of illegal immigration have effectively made every state and community a border town. The repercussions of this reality hit home in my home state of Maryland with the recent case of Ervin Jeovany Alfaro-Lopez, a Maryland church teacher charged with sexually assaulting multiple children. Alfaro-Lopez, a repeat offender who entered the country illegally multiple times, committed abhorrent acts against innocent children, leaving a trail of trauma and devastation in his wake.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by lax immigration policies and the failure of Democrats to prioritize the safety of American communities. Despite being ordered to be deported, Alfaro-Lopez was able to evade justice and continue preying on vulnerable people. His ability to exploit loopholes in our immigration system highlights the urgent need for stronger border security measures to protect our communities from such atrocities.

Yet even in the face of mounting evidence linking illegal immigration to crime, Democrats such as Rep. David Trone (D-MD) persist in their unwavering support for open borders. Trone’s recent claim that illegal immigrants should have the same constitutional rights as citizens, for example, is not only misguided but also dangerous. By advocating policies that enable criminals such as Alfaro-Lopez to evade detection and continue victimizing innocent people, Democrats are failing in their duty to uphold the rule of law and protect our communities.

The surge in criminal noncitizen encounters reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a direct consequence of failed immigration policies that prioritize the interests of illegal immigrants over those of law-abiding citizens. Democrats must acknowledge the reality of the situation and join forces with Republicans to address the crisis at our southern border. This means investing in robust border security measures, supporting our border agents, and implementing sensible immigration reforms that prioritize national security and public safety.

...

Many Democrats see some political advantage in the open borders policy even though a majority of Americans oppose it.
