Israel attack Gaza terror tunnels

 Daily Wire:

Israel unleashed fury on northern Gaza Friday night after repeatedly urging civilians to evacuate the area for the last two weeks as it seeks to permanently eradicate Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group that is responsible for murdering more than 1,400 Israelis, wounding 5,200+ more, and kidnapping 200+ people.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that it struck 150 underground sites in Hamas’ vast underground terror tunnels that allow the terrorists to meet, organize, and move undetected throughout Gaza. The terrorists also store weapons, ammunition, and other military supplies in the tunnels. The terrorists use hardwired landlines, which allowed them to communicate without being intercepted by Israeli intelligence as they plotted the October 7 attacks.

“During the attack, terrorists of the terrorist organization Hamas were eliminated and combat tunnels, underground combat spaces and other underground terrorist infrastructures were destroyed,” the IDF said in a statement.

The IDF also said numerous high value targets were killed during the strikes, including the terrorist who was responsible for overseeing Hamas’ aerial assets.

“Overnight, IDF fighter jets struck Asem Abu Rakaba, the Head of Hamas’ Aerial Array,” the IDF said in a a statement. “Abu Rakaba was responsible for Hamas’ UAVs, drones, paragliders, aerial detection and defense. He took part in planning the October 7 massacre and commanded the terrorists who infiltrated Israel on paragliders and was responsible for the drone attacks on IDF posts.”

Israel also reportedly destroyed a site belonging to Hezbollah — an Iranian-backed terrorist group that is based in Lebanon — in response to rockets that it fired at Israel.

The  ISW reported that Hamas used terror tunnels to attack an Israeli troop checkpoint inside Israel.

...

The al Qassem Brigade—the militant wing of Hamas—likely conducted a complex attack targeting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at the Erez checkpoint on October 29. Militants from the al Qassem Brigades infiltrated Israeli territory via a tunnel west of the checkpoint before clashing with the IDF.[1] LH-affiliated media reported that the militants fired an anti-armor munition at Israeli vehicles at the checkpoint, killing several soldiers. The IDF reported that it “killed several and wounded others,” but did not provide further details.[2] The al Qassem Brigades claimed a rocket and mortar attack in the surrounding area to prevent support from reaching Israeli forces at Erez.[3] Hamas leader Ismail Radwan claimed that al Qassem Brigades militants closed on the checkpoint and engaged in small arms clashes with IDF forces.[4] CTP-ISW has not recorded independent confirmation of the clash or other tactical details.

The al Qassem Brigades and Saraya al Quds—the militant wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)— claimed a joint complex attack on the IDF in al Amiriya on October 29.[5] The al Qassem Brigades claimed to ambush IDF forces advancing south towards Beit Lahia Yasin, using anti-tank rocket launchers, indirect fire, and snipers.[6] The al Qassem Brigades also claimed to attack the advancing forces using an al Zawari one-way attack drone.[7] Saraya al Quds separately claimed that its militants and the al Qassem Brigades conducted a joint indirect fire attack on IDF forces as they advanced towards Beit Lahia.[8] Palestinian media also claimed unidentified militants engaged in small arms fire with the IDF near Umm al Nasr Village, north of Beit Lahia.[9]

Daniel Greenfield responds to the "proportionate response" nonsense

Never has the longtime criticism that Israel’s response to Muslim terrorism been as ghoulishly absurd as it is now
Norway’s prime minister says the Israeli army’s response to the deadly Hamas attack that killed 1,400 people and saw over 230 abducted by terrorists has been disproportionate, and denounces a “catastrophic” humanitarian situation in Gaza.

“International law stipulates that [the reaction] must be proportionate. Civilians must be taken into account, and humanitarian law is very clear on this. I think this limit has been largely exceeded,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store says on NRK public radio.
Turning terrorism into a math problem never made any moral, logical or strategic sense.

How many Arab Muslim women should Israel rape to be proportionate?

How many children should it kidnap and hold hostage?

Wars should be fought and won against military personnel. When terrorists hide behind civilians, then they have to be fought and destroyed. And the civilian casualties are their fault and the fault of those who don’t evacuate.

Newsmax reports:

Israel Expanding Ground Operation in Gaza, Comms Blackout Eases

Israel signaled intent to encircle Gaza's main city on Sunday, publishing pictures of battle tanks on the Palestinian enclave's western coast 48 hours after ordering expanded ground incursions across its eastern border.

Israel's self-declared "second phase" of a three-week war against Hamas militants had initially been kept from public view, with forces moving under darkness and a telecommunications blackout cutting off Palestinians.

The phone and internet cuts appeared to be easing on Sunday, according to Gaza residents. But they have severely hampered rescue operations for casualties of Israeli barrages wreaking destruction, especially on northern Gaza City, site of Hamas's government and command centers.

As well as the Israeli military's pictures of tanks, some pictures online appeared to show Israeli soldiers waving an Israeli flag deep inside Gaza.

Reuters could not verify those images.

Hamas said it was firing mortars against Israeli forces in north Gaza and had hit Israeli tanks with missiles, belittling reports of deep advances by its enemy.

"Israel cut us off from the world in order to wipe us out, but we are hearing the sounds of explosions and we are proud the resistance fighters have stopped them at meters distance," said Shaban Ahmed, a public servant who stayed in Gaza City despite an Israeli warning to evacuate south.

‘Darkest Evil That Can Exist’: IDF Shows Martha MacCallum, Other Journos Hamas Video Not Released To Public

"...it is the cries of the children that I will hear forever."

...

“Today we were shown the Hamas bodycam and other videos of the attacks of October 7th,” MacCallum posted to X on Friday. “There are no words to explain. It is to witness the darkest evil that can exist.”

“Hamas terrorists laugh and call home to boast how many Jews they killed ‘with their hands,'” she described. “Asking if their parents are proud? Humans bloodied, charred, ripped apart.”

“But it is the cries of the children that I will hear forever,” MacCallum added. “I share this with you because the world needs to know what happened. And so that you can imagine it, because I hope you never have to see it.”

IDF Maj. Gen. Mickey Edelstein, commander of the operational planning team, said they felt it necessary to show journalists the footage so the world understands the “evil” Hamas brought to Israel, NBC News reported. Edelstein also emphasized that this footage also shows why Israel must do “whatever is needed to bring back the sense of security.”

“We know this content is difficult to watch, which is why we chose not to release it publicly,” acting Consul General Aviv Ezra explained the private showing. “But appallingly, we are already seeing people denying that these unspeakable atrocities even occurred. We believe it is important for leaders in the media world to know the truth – and that they have a responsibility to defend it. That is why we held this event.”

Last week, an Israeli morgue worker, who only wishes to go by her first name, Shari, due to security concerns, told the Daily Mail that she and her team have helped to identify some 800 bodies from the terror attack.

“What these barbarians did to these people is beyond words,” Shari said of Hamas. “Evidence of mass rape so brutal that they broke their victims’ pelvis – women, grandmothers, children.”

“People whose heads have been cut off,” she continued. “Women standing in their night dresses woken up and shot. Faces blasted off. Heads smashed and their brains spilled out.”

Shari added that she saw the bodies of “women and children burned to charcoal” and “bodies murdered with their hands tied behind their backs.”

“We have babies with their heads cut off,” she said. “Bodies without hands, without legs, without genitals.”

This is how ridiculous the "proportionate response" nonsense is.

ISW's Russian brief also gives details on anti-Semantic riots in a Russian province.

Ongoing antisemitic demonstrations in the Republic of Dagestan and elsewhere in the North Caucasus are highlighting heightened interethnic and interreligious tensions in Russia. Hundreds of demonstrators in Dagestan broke into Makhachkala airport, blocked the runway, and attempted to board a plane arriving from Israel on the evening of October 29 following the circulation of rumors that Russian authorities were planning to resettle “Israeli refugees” in Dagestan and elsewhere in the North Caucasus.[1] Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at a hotel in Khasavyurt, Dagestan on the evening of October 28 to look for suspected “Israeli refugees” based on similar rumors.[2] Unknown actors reportedly set fire to a Jewish cultural center under construction in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic on the night of October 28 to 29.[3]
