The Saudi's fight with Big Green
NY Times:
Inside the Saudi Strategy to Keep the World Hooked on Oil
The kingdom is lobbying, funding research and using diplomatic muscle to obstruct climate action and keep fossil fuels at the center of the world economy.
This is a fight that is worth winning because Big Green as currently operating lacks the ability to supply enough energy and do so reliably. To abandon fossil fuels at this point would create worldwide poverty and destruction. There are not nearly enough batteries that can be produced to make wind and solar reliable on a scale to replace fossil fuels. An attempt to do so would wreck economies and create starvation.
