A mountain pass into Georgia has become a choke point for fleeing Russians, many of them men who faced being drafted and sent to fight in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Putin is wrongly describing the Ukraine war as an existential fight with western elites.  It is pretty clear that those trying to escape his mobilization attempts do not see Putin's war in Ukraine in the same light.  They likely see it as a wholly unnecessary war of aggression by Putin.

Washington Post:

The move recommits Russia to its war in Ukraine despite military setbacks and escalates its confrontation with the West, which has promised more weapons and money to help Kyiv reclaim its territories.

Russia is weaker now than it was before the war.
