Jan. 6 panel boomerang: Final hearing undercuts two key Democrat talking points

Video played during the final committee hearing showed Pelosi firmly in charge of a security apparatus she claimed didn't report to her.

First, they belatedly decided to subpoena the central character in their Jan. 6 narrative, Donald Trump, an act that comes as the committee plans no further hearings and will sunset after the Christmas holidays. The compressed timeline makes it difficult to get the former president's full side of his story should he decide to testify.

Trump seized in the delay in a statement Thursday night.

“Why didn’t the Unselect Committee ask me to testify months ago? Why did they wait until the very end, the final moments of their last meeting?,” he asked. “Because the Committee is a total “BUST” that has only served to further divide our Country which, by the way, is doing very badly - A laughing stock all over the World?”

Second, the committee showed compelling video of Pelosi commanding the security apparatus of the U.S. Capitol complex as it was under siege by rioters, directing resources, calling the Pentagon and soliciting police from neighboring Virginia. The footage clearly contradicts Pelosi's earlier claim she had nothing to do with Capitol security.

The Jan. 6 committee operation comes across as a show trial attacking Trump.   They did manage to swerve into the truth near the end after trying to blame Trump for everything that went wrong.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014. When the Congressional Budget Office crunched Obamacare's spending numbers, they estimated that only 7% of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored plans would lose their plans. ...
