Beto backtracks on defunding police

 The Lid:

Will the real Beto O’Rourke please stand up? On Friday, the radical far-left Democrat who once ate dirt after being defeated by Ted Cruz faced off against Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott in a debate giving Texas voters a clear look at the two candidates in November’s general election. During the debate, O’Rourke claimed he does not support defunding police.

There’s only one huge problem.

In 2020, he said the exact opposite.

“Of course, I don’t, and no one does,” O’Rourke stated when asked directly if he supports defunding police.

But in June 2020, he not only called for defunding police, but he also advocated dismantling entire police departments and “rebuilding” them.

Here’s a video comparing his two statements. You can decide for yourself.

“This is a reoccurring problem that Beto has,” Abbott responded, according to a CBS News report. “He says one thing from running for one office and a completely different thing running for a different office.”

Of course. He’s a Democrat.

No doubt, we’ll see more flip-flops before this is all over.
...

He is not the only Democrat who is backtracking on the anti=police agenda.
