Storms never last, but Ian not through with US

 NY Times:

Ian Bears Down on Carolinas After Battering Florida

  • As crews in southwest Florida rescued people amid widespread damage, Ian’s wind speeds grew on its way to an expected landfall in South Carolina on Friday.
  • State and federal officials said they expected deaths connected to the storm, but no firm total had emerged.

The wind and the storm surge caused significant damage in Florida where the Governor declared a 500-year flood in parts of the state.  After cutting across Florida it strengthened again over the Atlantic before heading to the Carolinas.
