Majority support transport of migrants to sanctuary jurisdictions

 National Review:

A majority of likely U.S. voters believe that “sanctuary cities” should have to share the border states’ burden of dealing with an influx of illegal immigrants, according to a new CRC Research poll conducted for the 85 Fund.

The poll, obtained exclusively by National Review, asked: “In order to manage the influx of illegal immigrants crossing the border, the state of Texas has sent buses of immigrants to other states and sanctuary cities including Chicago, New York City, and Washington DC. Do you agree or disagree that sanctuary cities should have to share the burden of dealing with these illegals and not just the border states?”

Sixty-three percent of likely voters agreed that sanctuary cities should have to share the burden, including 38 percent who strongly agreed and 25 percent who somewhat agreed. Almost 25 percent disagreed, including 14.5 percent who strongly disagreed and 10.3 percent who somewhat disagreed.

Twelve percent of respondents were unsure or refused to answer in polling conducted among 1,600 likely voters between September 14 and 18.

A slight majority of Democrats agreed (51 percent), as did 78 percent of Republicans and 63 percent of independents. Eighty-one percent of conservatives, 58 percent of moderates and 49 percent of liberals agreed as well.

I suspect that a majority also oppose Biden's open borders policy which is allowing the migration in the first place.  It is only appropriate that Biden supporters bear the burden of dealing with the migrants he let in.  It looks like Texas, Florida, and Arizona will have strong support for sending migrants to other states.  Perhaps those states will also put pressure on Biden to reimpose Trump border policies now.

It was ridiculous enough that New York mayor Eric Adams described experiencing a tiny part of Biden’s border crisis as “horrific” and D.C. mayor Bowser declared a state of emergency and called on the Pentagon for help. Even today, the total number of people sent to those cities is less than two days’ worth of what is happening at the border.

But Operation Martha’s Vineyard was the real comedy payoff. The situation was like something out of a farce by Tom Wolfe or Christopher Buckley: a few dozen border-jumpers arrive at the retreat of the lefty rich and famous, where “no human is illegal” and there are enough empty mansions to house them a thousand-fold, and after being given some cereal they’re whisked away by soldiers.

This is hypocrisy dialed up to 11, a target for mockery so irresistible that even non-political people can appreciate it. And it sure did “infuriate the opposition” and cause them to “react to your advantage” with laughable cries of kidnapping and human trafficking.
