I don't think it backfired on Trump.  It exposed the leftist extremist in the teachers' unions who want to keep the schools closed while they still get paid and also keep poor women from being able to go back to work.  It is a cynical ploy by the left and the NY Times is trying to cover for these cretins.

The leftists at the Times have devoted much of their coverage to pretending that Kamala Harris is a good choice for Biden as VP despite her extremist positions and her awfulness in the Kavanaugh hearings.  She was grossly unfair to him because of her extremist position on abortion.  The paper that pushed the Russian collusion hoax and has never apologized for its false attacks on the President continues to look it is run by the DNC.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare
