GOP convention destroyed Democrat slurs against the President and Republicans

The Convention went well beyond just renominated Trump as President.  It brought out real people to refute the Democrat narrative about him and the party.  Some of the personal stories of the speakers were moving and struck a chord with the audience.  Several black speakers refuted the Democrats' racism scam that they run out against Republicans every four years.  It also made an appeal to black voters on prison reform and rehabilitation.  At the same time, it defended law and order and the police.

Trump's acceptance speech was scripted and strong.

The president’s 70-minute speech was highly effective in the sense that he drew clear and arguably persuasive contrasts between himself and former Vice President Joe Biden in many areas, including their broad-based visions for America, the economy, and law enforcement.

In a way that was reminiscent of Trump’s positioning during the 2016 campaign, the president made it clear that he is running as an outsider and a non-politician against Democratic presidential nominee Biden, who Trump characterized as embodying the political class and the establishment.

Moreover, Trump’s thematic attacks on Biden and the Democrats resonated, as Trump presented the choice between himself and Biden as a choice between freedom versus socialism, and optimism versus negativity.

“This election will decide whether we save the American Dream, or whether we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our cherished destiny,” Trump said, later adding that this “election will decide whether we will defend the American way of life, or whether we allow a radical movement to completely dismantle and destroy it.”

The quoted remarks are those of Doug Shoen, a former Democrat campaign consultant.

BTW, the convention was so good that the hostile Washington Post was near apoplectic in its denunciation of it.  Its opinion writers and headline writers were out to present a very different picture from what you actually saw at the convention.
