Katrina was not George Bush's fault after all

NY Times:

Report Says Blame for Katrina Lies With Corps of Engineers

An article by experts involved in previous examinations of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina contends that fault should fall on the Army Corps of Engineers.
But it was much more fun for Democrats to blame President Bush.  But I think state and local Democrat officials also demonstrated incompetence in response to the problem.

  1. One of the things which I like to do and watch the reaction, rolling of eyes at best, is to point out the FEMA's response was nearly textbook perfect. (Yes, Brownie was a complete hack, but he knew enough to let the professionals hand it.) FEMA was not constituted, trained, or funded to be the first responder. That was the local authorities task for the first 72 hours. The Usual Suspects completely ignored that for political purposed.

Remember that the mayor of NO was an African-American male, and the governor a white female. Both were utterly incompetent, but belonged to protected demographics to which blame may never be attributed.

At some point, the GOP is going to have to find a way to remind people how much they "remember" about the Bush years is false.
