A classic war movie from 50 years ago

Telegraph:
Zulu: is this the greatest ever British war film?

Why has the Michael Caine epic depicting the Battle of Rorke’s Drift gripped us for 50 years?
I really like this movie and don't get tired of seeing it.  As the story points out it has some historical inaccuracies but that does not take away from a very good film.  The scene where the Zulu warriors line up around the base in order to "count the guns" as the British forces shoot at them is still a classic.  I put it up there with Patton among my favorite war movies.
