Russians firing artillery into Ukraine in support of rebels

Washington Times:
The Pentagon has gathered intelligence showing that Russian troops have been firing artillery across the border at the Ukraine military.

Pentagon officials on Thursday said that the destabilizing development was revealed to them via an interagency intelligence briefing this morning.

The State Department earlier in the day made public that Russia has been committing cross-border infractions. In addition, the United States is now tracking a Russian plan to supply its Ukraine-based supporters with stronger, more damaging weapons than they already have on hand, State Department spokesman Marie Harf said.

“We have new evidence that the Russians intend to deliver heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers to the separatist forces in Ukraine and have evidence that Russia is firing artillery from within Russia to attack Ukrainan military positions,” she said during an afternoon press briefing.

The news comes as the Ukrainian government is showing signs of fragmenting.
...
Russian aggression continues and we still are not supporting the Ukraine forces.  The Putin government continues its support of insurgents.  Putin will still try to muddle the waters.
