Pentagon Sees Syrian Military, Not Chemical Sites, as Target

President Obama is exploring a range of military actions against Syria designed to “deter and degrade” the ability of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime to launch chemical weapons, officials said.
I would take out his air assets.  That could be done in a few days and would change the strategic balance within Syria.  It makes more sense than a punitive attack on random military units or assets.

BTW, the Times has been a victim of a denial of service attack today.  It would not surprise me if it originated in Syria or its allies.
Times Web Site Affected by Hacking Attack

The site was unavailable to readers Tuesday afternoon, the result of “a malicious external attack.”
