The practice is widespread in Yemen and has been particularly hard to discourage in part because of the country’s gripping poverty — bride-prices in the hundreds of dollars are especially difficult for poor families to pass up.

Selling little girls like chattel has to be one of the more disgusting practices in the world. It also has to be an embarrassment for those of the Muslim faith that their religion is used to condone this sick practice. Little girls need to be educated and nurtured, not subjected to the lust of some old pedophile.
