Satellite internet service

One of the reasons for fewer post today is that the Hughesnet service I had installed yesterday has put me in the penalty box for using it too much. Right now it is worse than dial up and it was not significantly better before. I have spent over an hour on the phone, plus numerous emails trying to get the situation straightened out.

Right now I have agreed to significantly upgrade the service, but I am still being told I will have to stay in the penalty box for 24 hours. Who knew you could pay so much more for unsatisfactory service? The upgrade puts the cost of the service at about $120 a month on top of the installation. I think this is around 10 times the cost of some DSL providers without the limits.

  1. If you were living in Canada, you would be getting screwed. I use Bell Canada, unlimited DSL for about $40 U.S. a month .... and I live in the boonies. Have been using it for about 7 years .... never a problem. I guess some stuff in Texas is pricey.
