Follow Afghan war on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube

Social networking is coming to the Afghan war. The Twitter page is here. There is also a contest for the troops in Afghanistan to tell why what the we are doing is important. The winner gets a new camcorder. The military is also adding a Facebook page here. The YouTube page is here.

I think this is a good idea. The Taliban have not announced a similar social networking venture, but they have certainly had some success in the media battle space with their victim offensive on air strikes.

  1. Thanks much for publicizing the contest and your positive comments! Wanted to let you know we have completed the entry phase and are now in voting - anything you might be willing to do to help encourage your readers to rate the videos at http://youtube.com/afghanistanmatters, and so help determine the winners (and also help support the idea that we do something like this again in the future) would be greatly appreciated!
